Scarf-maniac
SO I kind of like scarves.

It's the Clapotis! Just thought I'd show how nicely it drapes. This is half width, only 6 increase rows worked, but 9 straight rows worked. I was just halving everything, but 6 straight rows was kind of puny. I love lengthy scarves and would've done all 12 straight rows but Noro Cash Iroha is $$$.

I'm not to down with shawls, I love the idea of them but don't know how they factor into my tom-boyish wardrobe...well, here is how:

Next up is Ruffles from the Pam Allen/Interweave Press book Scarf Style.

Lovely, but it kind of reminds me of a labia. There was a boob scarf at Knitty for their breast cancer awareness supplement so I'm down with this. If I weren't so squeamish I'd kind of like to go into women's health, OBGYN stuff. But last night on Newlywed's Jessica Simpson had Lasik surgery on her eye and I almost hurled.

Cashmerino is amazing, it really makes me knit very slowly and calmly, not at all the way I usually knit. It's shiny too, gorgeous. This scarf looks like a boa. Everyone on the blogs says that it's a slow knit, but this is one skein and it whipped right along. Maybe because I'm using size 7s instead of 6. It involves short rows which are so much easier than I thought.

This also involved short rows, but it turned wavy after about 3 triangles. It's frogged, and becoming another Clapotis!

I'm off to a KNIT-IN for New Year's! Yeah, that's right, my LYS is hosting the event, it's going to be rad.

yeah, that was painted by a japanese dude, and if you look closely you can see the picture it was based on in the corner of the frame. THREE CIRILIAS, picture in picture in picture, whoa.

hello

are you JULIE'S daughter???

if so, we're being refered to as "the twins"..

julie's dating my dad, mark cullivan, and they sorta had a cruch on each other when they were younger than you and me. something went wrong, i think it was the fact that my dad knocked my mom up before he could have a chance with your mom..

but anyway, now they're in love and i think it's just great. i wanna meet your mom really really really really really bad.

xoxo

ps, beautiful scarf, by the way.. i'm obsessed with yarn, too.

holy crap! awesome to hear from you. my mom told me about you last night, said we have a lot in common. how bizarre!

yeah, my mother is pretty smitten, she can't stop telling me about what a renaissance man your father is, it's hysterical.

i hear you're in hawaii...what do you knit out there? i always lose my will to knit when the warm weather hits, the winters here in massachusetts are long and COLD.

=)

well, i haven't quite tackled knitting yet.. oddly enough, i made my poke poke (husband, kevin, etc) learn to knit one night, and so now he knows more about knitting than i do.

i crochet for right now.. but i have knitting needles and i just bought a book on how to knit socks, so i'm really anxious to teach myself. i've been making hats, mosty novelty baby hats and weird stuffed animals and bags. i had a website up, but i had to switch web hosts, so it's down right now.

we might might MIGHT move to new york and we have a couple of friends out in boston. hopefully sooner than later we can actually meet and stuff. my dad's talking about taking a job in connecticut.. i think it's mostly because he wants to be closer to your mama. he's so funny.. i posted a couple of pictures of them in my journal. he looks like a kid again. i don't think i've seen him smile that much in years.
